I hate that gluten free food is more expensive as it’s not my fault that I have an intolerance – I experience crippling fatigue and awful stomach ache. I feel like I’m being punished financially speaking and I wish there was something that could be done to bring down the cost. Since finding the solution to my problem after 8-10 years of suffering, my food bills have gone through the roof :(

But I recently read a report where they’d surveyed a number of GF products against their non-GF counterparts and the GF products were 180% more expensive on average. It will be quite a while before there’s any sort of parity I’m sure.

Totally agree that £3.50 is way to much!
My partner is a coeliac and has been for the last 4 years. Such a nightmare for her to eat on the go!!

What would you say is a fair price for a basic sandwich/wrap??
Or a meal deal? wrap,crisps and drink?

M&S could do with improving their gluten free bread…take note of Warburtons and Genius. I will not be buying again, expenses or no expenses

My local Tesco sells Genius bread for £2.89! Nearly 2-3x “normal” bread costs. I can’t justify it. It’s part of why I am starting to make my own GF bread. It’s a bit scandalous to make us pay way more than the average convenience product.

Not sure how this could change though? You can’t tell me that it costs THAT much more to produce GF products? Great question!
